A Reputation Is An Easy Thing To Lose:

|

Ethical marketing is an absolute necessity on the Internet.

If you want to be really successful, you need to develop and maintain a reputation for credibility and most importantly; never lose it.

When marketing your product or service online, it is important to use powerful language to convey to your customer the benefits of the product you want to sell.

Words such as phenomenal, unbelievable, extraordinary, and fantastic are commonly used to convince website visitors to buy your product.

Using these words is acceptable as long as you do not intentionally mislead your customers into believing something is, what it is not.

If your product or service doesn't perform as you say it should, don't say it will do something, just to close a sale. Hyped descriptions can get an initial sale, but the sale may be returned. As a result, you not only lose the customer and the potential for a future sale; you lose your credibility and your reputation.

If you surf the net for any length of time, I'm sure you have seen the sales letters that advertise mansions, yachts, and Ferraris's that have been earned by selling some new marketing scheme, plug in website, or ebook.

The majority of these marketers are over hyping their product and using deceptive marketing practices. The truth is, many scam artists have taken over the Internet and prey on naive newbies trying to learn how to make money online in this sagging economy.

When something seems too good to be true, it probably is, and should be shunned. Use common sense when buying anything on line. If you have doubts or questions about the product or service, email or call the owner for clarification. If there is no contact information on the site; don't buy from that merchant.

Email correspondence often reveals a great deal about a merchant and his attitude towards a customer. If the reply to your question is courteous and informative; the merchant is likely to be reputable.

Ethical Internet marketing practices always prevail in business either on or off the Internet.
