The study indicated that the companies that did discover successful new marketing techniques, credited the Internet with their success.

We all know that a strong presence on the Internet gives businesses the "store front" they need to showcase their brand and build awareness for the products and services they offer to their customers.

Even though this is recognized by most small businesses, only 67 percent of them have or are likely to maintain a website in two years.

The survey found that of the small businesses that use social media, 30 percent will probably increase the investment in their websites, because of social media. Another 60 percent don't plan to alter their website investment in the upcoming year.
